What Is A Non-Traditional Career?

When you hear "Non-traditional" career, it generally applies to careers your gender (boy or girl) does not "traditionally" go into. For girls these broad areas involve technology, trades such as construction and welding, and public services such as police and fire. For boys the areas involve early childhood education such as elementary school teachers, and healthcare careers in the field of nursing. There are many advantages to non-traditional careers, such as the ability to stand out in a field of applicants, and the fact that non-trad careers often pay exceptionally well!

Beyond the Classroom

Amazing things are happening in career and technical programs in our area. This blog will highlight special projects, spread the word about nontraditional career options, and provide resources to help students and educators get the most out of these valuable programs.

We decided on the title "Do It. Learn It. Live It." because of the unique, hands-on experience these classes provide. CTE Students might learn a trade and make it their lifelong profession. They might bolster their understanding of math, science, and technology to prepare for college. Or they might just have fun venturing outside of their academic comfort zone.

Whatever the case, CTE programs benefit students and communities. "Do It. Learn It. Live It." is here to show you how.

Check back often for updates!

Sincerely,
PAVTEC staff
